I’m pleased to announce the addition of a new section to the site’s content: “Joshp’s Poetry”. The content of this section will NOT, by default, be promoted to the Front Page of Nous Essence, nor will it be, by default, featured on the main feed for the site. But you may see, from time to time, snippets of the work which I decide are nice enough to promote appear in your reader if you are a subscriber to the main site feed. If you are interested in subscribing to the poetry/prose feed directly, just click on this link.
I have been writing poetry, prose, lyrics, short fictions, and literary experiments for the better part of 15 years, and have now decided to filter through the entire existing body of my work, burn the terrible word-vomiting, and publish and/or rework anything that I feel deserves attention. If you subscribe, I look forward to your comments and your support!
I have decided to continue to publish my work with the same Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike license that covers the site in general. This means the that work can be distributed, remixed, and shared as much as you would like, so long as you give me credit for my work, release the resulting work under the same license, and agree not to capitalize off of my work unless you contact me directly first for permission, or to discuss a revenue sharing deal. Details on how to get in touch with me can be found in the About JoshP section. I’m happy to support Creative Commons in this way, becoming another (would-be?) artist, or let’s just say content creator, that is releasing work under one of their licenses. Another raindrop of copyright sanity in the desert of intellectual property law.
As the site evolves, I am trying out new modules and features, security protocols, themes, widgets, bells and various whistles (I can’t wait to have built in xmpp support!), and while all of this is good in-and-of itself, it is still only the skeleton to which the content I add is the flesh. While the “need” to play with Views is a good excuse to get some of my poetry up on the site (spurring me to work on my writing some more), I can just as concretely state that the addition of my poetry to the site is an excuse to become more familiar with the Views module in Drupal. Two things I have been putting off, that I know I want to do.
This is why this post also ends up in the “tech” category. I would really appreciate it if the technically oriented readers could check out the layout of that section and give me some feedback, particularly if you are familiar with Drupal’s Views, CCK, or Panels modules, or if you just happen to have a passion for theme-ing, or web design. There is a meager two entries being displayed by that view at the moment of this writing, but I plan on adding more content in the very near future, and feedback is, as stated, appreciated! Please feel free to leave feedback.
Great website and it’s so helpful. I want to add your blog into my rrs reader but i can’t find the rrs address. Would you please send your address to my email? Thanks a lot!
